Gaming Minister David Harris said the industry had put forward nine times the number of machines the government was expecting. In January, the government said about 500 machines would take part in the trial, to test different technologies and the impact on gamblers.īut there has been an unexpected level of interest, with the government accepting applications from 28 clubs and hotels, including 4,485 machines, across regional and metro areas. The NSW government promised a trial of cashless gaming when it came to power in March, rather than backing the previous Coalition government's policy of a mandated cashless gaming card.
